About Us

Statement of Faith

The most important thing about a church is what it believes. This statement summarizes our understanding of what the Bible teaches.

Membership Covenant

While our statement of faith summarizes what we believe, this church covenant summarizes how we intend to live together.

Mission

We exist to see, savor and show the glory of God in Jesus Christ by being and making disciples of all nations.

Vision

By God's grace we want to be a church that is...

Gospel-Centered

We celebrate and trust in Jesus’ death in our place, His resurrection from the dead, and His supremacy over all things.

Word-Saturated

We want our lives to be shaped by the Bible, God’s life-giving Word.

Spirit-Empowered

We depend on God in prayer and live by His Spirit’s power.

Lovingly-Committed

We commit to one another in love under Jesus’ authority.

Zealously-Missional

We spread our joy by helping others walk with Jesus, near and far.

Biblically-Shepherded

We open our lives up to the loving care of our church family and its pastors.

Leadership

God has entrusted the leadership of the local church to elders (also called overseers or pastors). An elder is a man who meets the biblical qualifications laid down in Scripture, and whose responsibility is to know, feed, lead and protect the church

Chris McCutchenPastor

Chris McCutchen
Pastor

God convicted Chris of his sin and need for a Savior as a college student at NC State University through the ministry of CRU. Through reading the Bible he became overwhelmed with God’s love for him and put his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He has been married to Kristen since 2004, and is a dad to Ruthie, Elliot, Mary, Ben and Rachel. He completed an M.Div at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008. He has lived in Raleigh since high school outside of a 4 year stint in Turkey and now works in the tech industry. Chris began serving as an elder at MHBC in December of 2023.

Daniel BonarPastoral Assistant

Daniel Bonar
Pastoral Assistant

Daniel is originally from the Charlotte area, but he moved to the Triangle for his college years. It was during his freshman year that the Lord opened his eyes to the ugliness of his sin and the beauty of God’s grace in Christ. He and his beautiful wife, Emily, have been married since 2017, and they have three children, Shepherd, Norah, and a boy due in November. Prior to coming to MHBC, Daniel worked in campus ministry for a few years at his alma mater, UNC – Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), and at a coffee roastery. Most recently, he and his family moved back to the Triangle after serving in Central Asia for a few years. He’s thankful for the opportunity to serve and learn from the saints here at MHBC.

Geoff Nocar
Deacon

Geoff has been married to his wife Jennifer since 1996, and together they have three daughters: Madeline, Corinne, and Clara. He grew up in California and was introduced to Jesus in high school, but it wasn’t until his early 30s—while confronting the impact of sin on his life and marriage—that he came to truly understand his need for a Savior and trusted in Jesus Christ as Lord. Geoff studied business and computer science at Saint Mary’s College of California and has worked in sales, marketing, and technology, primarily within the pharmaceutical industry. His missions experience includes both domestic and international short-term trips, including to Mexico and Moldova. Geoff began serving as the Deacon of Next Gen Ministries at MHBC in early 2024. He enjoys camping, off-roading, and anything on the water.
